The Torch

In Wolgang Lettl's 16-painting series, "Nocturnal Spaces" from 1993/94, the bridge becomes a plank linking the walls of the abyss, but without leading to other rooms.

It is within these boundaries, and at the mercy of boundlessness and bottomlessness, that life unfolds on the smallest stage: devoted and cheerful, endangered and layered - and always enigmatic.
Given the same situation everybody reacts individually, in character.
