Elizabeth Okie studied in Boston and there met and married artist and teacher William McGregor Paxton. Boston School artists often selected subjects for their beauty, arranged them harmoniously and depicted them enveloped in realistic light and atmosphere. Paxton concentrated on feminine, domestic subjects and her still life compositions almost exclusively depicted kitchen objects.
