About my works –The Linear Feasance Series

My works were mainly painted with lines. The preposition of <linear feasance series> denotes the intentional act to draw out lines expressing the internal, especially, conscious experience of the researcher. The images of this series proceed to the problem of color connected with lines – in other words, the dimension of mental image color. From this, the feasance and non-feasance of acts will be noticed and discussed. The way to draw the line may be intentional. But the limitless emotion radiated by the colored plane converts the creation act into an unintentional act or non-feasance, making the work a non-objective abstract painting. The <linear feasance series> are not drawn under the clear plan from the first. However, they are repeatedly drawn with an arbitrary volition to some degree. It turns to the repetition of no-intention, through which it changes to the drawing act containing the fortuity and the act of coloring. In other words, the feasance of the self is turned over, making the creation process the non-feasance and consequently releasing or just letting the unlimited energy in the internal consciousness without any intention. As it is recognized along with the cosmic avalanche where being/non-being, existence/non-existence and Saeg(color)/Gong(empty) are flowing together, it can be said to have some interrelation with Laozi-Chuangzi’s Muwi(No-work) idea and Zen Buddhism ideology where the existence becomes the non-existence and vise versa. In the respect of oriental Zen contemplation, the Gong state without consciousness and feasance is the basic presupposition to elevate the line of contemplation with the emptiness. Therefore, the color and image coming from this can acquire the boundary of far broader aspect that transcends the rather confined or narrow consciousness. So, the author’s artworks may be considered as the product of such act to get the insight ultimately on the cosmos and existence through the unification and correlation between Gong and Saeg or feasance and non-feasance.
