Thiorba made by Matheus Buchenberg, one of the most celebrated lute builders of of his time and the most famous of the early builders of chitarrones, an instrument also known at that time as "Theorba Romana". The thiorba is an instrument of the lute family. It distinguishes itself from other instruments of this family mainly by having larger dimensions and a second pegbox with bass strings.
