This is the original Phonograph made in the shop of Edison's Menlo Park Laboratory by John Kreusi to Edison's specifications and instructions. The model was finished December 6, 1877, and Edison successfully recorded and reproduced on it the nursery rhyme "Mary Had a Little Lamb. . ." It recorded sound waves as indentations on a sheet of tinfoil
