The Mönchengladbach astronaut Reinhold Ewald worked for three weeks from 10 February to 2 March 1997 with the MIR space station almost 400 kilometres from Earth through space - and "his" Borussia was there. Ewald took along a tip kicker figure in a Borussia jersey as a personal item, among other things.
The results during this time were passed on to him via radio contact from his colleagues on earth.
