Tivaevae (Bedcover)

Tivaevae taorei. Large rectangular quilt or bed spread. Sewn by hand from coloured pieces of cotton fabric cut into diamond shapes and arranged to create prominent multicoloured six-pointed etu (star) motifs of white, orange, green, yellow, and pink against a crimson red background. All sewn onto a backing sheet of plain white cotton. Fabric has two areas of significant damage likely due to pest activity.
