Embroidered postcard from Henry Charles Stevens (service no. 4007) to his future sister-in-law Maggie Staunton. When Henry returned he married Maggie's older sister Theodosia (Theo) Staunton. Silk postcards reached their peak of popularity and production during the First World War. Mostly hand embroidered by French women at home, the designs were sent to factories for cutting and mounting on card.
