This letter by Detective Ward to ACP Nicolson provides details of an interview Ward had with Aaron Sherritts brother Jack: a secret service agent. The letter describes a plan to have Aaron arrested as a way of drawing out Joe Byrne and implies that Aaron may also have been engaged as an agent. Detective Wards letter substantiates the theory that a great deal of the information gathered by police came directly from the secret service agents employed by the Police. A year later, Aarons association with the police would lead to his murder, as word of his involvement reached the outlaws.
