The Hopetoun Toilet Set, made by Jules Coquelin, Paris, 1830-1839, includes: a mirror with brass inlaid wooden frame, a wash bowl, a moustache brush, a clothes brush, two hairbrushes in a leather-covered case, a nail brush, a glass bottles and containers, a hot water container for shaving and a correspondance wallet made from card velvet and silk. These are stored in a rectangular chest veneered in rosewood and with brass mounts and decoration, locked with a steel key.
