Toki (Adze)

Toki. Adze. Multipurpose tool used for carving wood and other materials. Carved from green basalt toka (stone). Dark grey/green in colour. Triangular in cross-section. Dull cutting edge. Bevel is concave. Sides are highly polished. Front of blade is slightly rounded. Large area covered by a brown textured piece of textile adhered to the blade. Prominent shoulder. From the shoulder reduced to butt and poll. Butt is slightly pecked, poll is left slightly pecked also. Overall surface treatment is highly polished.
