The lower portion of this circular crown is decorated with two bands of silver foliate scrolls alternating with parcel-gilt channel moldings. From this base rise seven doves alternating with seven rampant lion staves which support a canopy with leaf pendants and suspended bell. A small crown rests on the canopy. It is inscribed ("Crown of Torah/Crown of Priesthood/ Crown of Royalty/ Crown of a Good Name [5]570"= 1809/10; a variation on Ethics of the Fathers 4:17). A parcel-gilt sphere surmounted by an acorn finial rises from the center of this small crown.
This Torah crown is one of a series that are nearly identical in basic composition but which vary in ornamental detail. All bear engraved inscriptions dating between 1809 and 1819.
