The inscriptions record the names of various members of the Lipschütz family probably of Danzig. They include that of Zechariah, who "undertook the sacred work of the Torah scroll," and Rabbi Israel Lipschütz, who served several Danzig congregations from 1837 to 1860 and authored a commentary on the Mishnah.
