Tourism promotion in the 50s was very scarce. Europe was plunged into a huge crisis after the Second World War and the effort made by the General Directorate of Tourism to attract the interest of French tourists is remarkable. The text begins like this: Spain is the country of the most astonishing diversity, and the violence of its contrasts takes away any idea of monotony, its glorious past in no way opposes its present dynamism. In a word, it is a country where the traveler can, in a few hours, pass from perpetual snow to fragrant gardens of orange trees in bloom; a country where tourists are always received with the traditional hospitality and friendliness of the Spanish...In the collection there are numerous pieces on the promotion of Spain abroad throughout the 20th century.
