Since the Middle Ages, three-legged posnets and pots with handles were used for cooking food by standing them in the embers of the open hearth. They were made of grey or red earthenware as well as bronze. This small bronze posnet, like the many miniature clay vessels that have often been found, clearly served as a toy.
