This trade axe head was found during excavations by archaeologists from the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries in 1984 of the Bidmead site, located on the Mount Saint Louis Ridge, in Simcoe County. The site was a Wendat village dating to ca. 1610-1630. The excavations unearthed 13 longhouses. Several trade items have been found, including this iron axe head. The artifact has been stabilized to prevent further metal corrosion.
