Shirt over which a leather bib decorated with woollen embroidery is worn, and a cloth jacket which is reinforced and decorated with leather patches. On the legs, black cloth under-trousers and a belt are covered by chaps made from leather and fur skin. Over the whole outfit, there is a bib decorated with quilting on the front and two bands on each side to adjust the size.
Trades practised in the open air required special clothing. The materials chosen provided protection from the harsh climate, and functional designs responded to the demands of the work. An example of this is the bib, which had front pockets to store tools, and the chaps, which acted as an apron when handling livestock, to protect the under-trousers.
