In 1956, Lesney introduced The Models of Yesteryear, renditions of classic vehicles from the steam and early automotive era. The series capitalized on the public’s growing nostalgia for some of the more distinctive prewar vehicles that had disappeared from the roads. These included classic vintage cars, steam-powered lorries, steamrollers, traction engines, and a few steam railway locomotives.
