The intervention at Matarazzo Hospital was based on research I’ve been conducting on the use of different types of cables and wires, and on my visits to the hospital building itself, with its wiring all hanging loose, its broken conduits and abandoned circuit boxes. I proposed a series of interventions using cables and wires of assorted thickness and in different tones of red. Distributed around the hospital interior and exterior, the cables are like veins and vessels pumping blood around the place; a fitting image for a hospital environment. However, they also refer to the flows of the city and its architecture, letting you see what’s going on under the skin/the wall paint.
