Vienna, Austria

This travelling carriage is
a landaulet, the hood of which could be opened in fair weather. A particularly
innovative feature, which emerged around 1830, is the eight-spring suspension
with C-springs over elliptic springs. Characteristic of travelling carriages
are the servant's seat with collapsible hood over the rear axle, and the
numerous luggage compartments, some of them portable. The bar-shaped
mountain-check and cast-iron drag-shoe were used to ensure the passenger's
safety on steep slopes.
