From the Artist: This collage was created in late December 2020-January 2021 while I sheltered at home due to the coronavirus pandemic. It is constructed from original recycled monotype prints and my torn watercolor paintings, with the addition of colored pencil. I have been sheltering alone at home since March 18, 2020. That day comprised the last moments I shopped in person at a grocery store. The solitude and isolation are difficult to navigate and present a desperate need to discover new healthy routines and activities – creating artwork and expanding my cooking skills have filled some of that void.

The tree collage, lacking human form, is indicative of the absence of friends and family in my day-to-day life. The image represents my solitude, also my longing for springtime and warmer weather that could more easily facilitate outdoor socializing. The collage represents my aspirations to elevate my mood to one that is more upbeat and colorful.
