The metal Protosdrum washing machinemanufactured by Siemens-Schuckertis one of the first models to have heating. This machine is part of a series that also includes a centrifuge and is driven by a series-wound motor with armature starting resistor. This makes it possible to reverse the direction in which the wash is turned.
