This tureen with lid and stand serves as an example for Baroque Classicism in Vienna. Since 1766, European gold and silver work was characterized by the effort to merge different shapes and motifs to a unity according to the current style. The tureen itself stands on four leaf-topped cloven-hoof legs, ram heads serve as handles. The wall is decorated with a surrounding frieze with children playing and making music. A leaf frieze is applied above. The crown of the lid is composed by a swan with Amor. Below, four medallions with bay and oak garlands can be found. The stand has four foliage legs which culminate in an acanthus frieze. The base is crowned by a frieze of vine. The interplay between smooth, undecorated areas and richly decorated parts increases the artistic expression of the tureen with lid.
