The turtle ship was built in the shape of a turtle's back where the cover was put on the hull of Panokseon. Under the cover, the soldiers pulled the oars being protected from the attack of the enemy and on the cover, augers were used to hold off and prevent the enemy forces from crawling on the vessel.
