Soviet union Krechet spacesuit for lunar excursions

This spacesuit is one of the most important objects in the history of astronautics, a very rare testimony of the Soviet project to send a man to the moon. Around the end of the 1960s, the Soviet Union was just a step away from obtaining this extraordinary result. The shuttle for orbiting and landing on the moon were already prepared, as were also the crew and the equipment for survival on the moon. But the colossal Nil launch vehicle failed. On 20 July 1969 the Soviets were beaten by the Americans, who reached the moon first. At this point the Soviet project was abandoned, all materials were destroyed, and for nearly 50 years its very existence was denied. This surviving spacesuit is a tangible sign of the existence of that project. It must have been planned for wearing by the first "conquerors" who were to have explored the surface of the moon. Like all Soviet spacesuits, this one was produced by the Russian Zvezda.
