Call for works council elections by the Industrie-Gewerkschaft Bergbau (literally: "Industry Union for Mining"). Elections were based on electoral lists that contained the union representatives of the different pits. The lists were often positioned directly next to the union posters. The lettering "Sicherung Deiner Existenz!" (literally: "Securing your livelihood!") placed above stylized portraits of miners that present the miners as a proud union, is used to encourage workers to vote for their IGB representatives. The second poster with the exclamation "Wir im Bergbau denken nach!" (literally: "We in the mining industry are thinking hard!") demonstrates unity with the Federal Republic of Germany, which the Saarland had recently joined with by means of the black, red and gold colours. During the time of the Saar Protectorate, the IGB already worked closely with the Saarlandic Industrieverband Bergbau, which criticized the political idea of an economic union with France. After the Saarland had joined the FRG in 1957, the Industrieverband Bergbau was attached to the Industrie-Gewerkschaft Bergbau ("Trade Union for Mining") under common leadership of the umbrella organization "Dach des Deutschen Gewerkschaftsbunds" (DGB).
