Ugqoko / Meat platter

A Zulu meat platter. Meat platters are commonly oval in shape with handle on the sides. The undersides are char-blackened and decorated with carvings. The platters are important items used daily to seve ritually slaughtered meat. They function as incovations of the presence and protection the dead provide to the living.
