Image is from scrapbook 2014.179.1 which is comprised of images and drawings from the Philoppopolis (Plovdiv) prisoner of war camp in Bulgaria. Scrapbook originally belonged to Count Alexandre Orlowski. The Count joined the French Army and received a second lieutenant's commission. He was assigned to the 8th Regiment of the Chasseurs d'Afrique, which was part of the Army of Africa. Orlowski was captured by Bulgarians on the Salonika Front and was a prisoner in the Goino Pauicheievo (by July 1916) Philoppopolis (Plovdiv) (by July 1918) prisoner of war camp in Bulgaria.
