Cotton New Look skirt with silk-screen pattern of fish and fruit in a still life setting
By ‘Unknown maker’
This unusual skirt is made from a medium with plain weave printed cotton. It has a unique silkscreened pattern of still life with fish, fruit and wine/water jugs. It is typical of the 50s desire for quirky novelty or conversational fabric prints. It has a simple waistband with gathering to create a full skirt effect. The skirt is unlined and would have been worn with a stiff petticoat underneath. There is a simple button and hole closure at the back of the waistband.
