Antonis Papadopoulos balances between the real and the imaginary with the skill of a professional acrobat. His works exude a sense of “inconvenient.” This is not because of the subjects he chooses, since he paints (hyper) realistic everyday objects and scenes, but because of the symbolic implications of his work. The external visual reality only interests him as a stimulus to project an internal condition, a “psychological climate”. The objects get a meaning different from the obvious from the selection of paradoxical combinations in the composition, the sensitivity of the design and the clean use of color, and acquire an emotional force that creates the impression that the viewer must discover what the artist leaves out.
