Hailing from Maharashtra, Nareen Nath graduated from Sir J.J. School of Arts in 1960.

Another artist who emerged out of the group who explored abstraction, Nareen Nath, painted colour fields in limited colours with minimal colours. His style of abstract painting, rather than being bold and vibrant or filled with rhythmic strokes, is quiet and calm, with suggestions of forms just appearing to be suspended lightly on the plane. The artists painting in this style are few and, as such, entirely alone in their artistic pursuits.

Nath served on the Lalit Kala Studios Managing Committee and Bharat Bhawan's Advisory Committee in the '80s and '90s. His art is part of many collections in India and abroad, such as the NGMA, Ford Foundation and the Rockefeller Foundation.
