It is known by some, that the coastline of Cascais is arguably the birthplace of all artistic expressions of street in Portugal.
MURALIZA, designed by Lara Seixo Rodrigues and Mário Belém and produced by Mistaker Maker, comes to seize this episode of the latest and artistic history of Cascais, bringing a renewal of this status, forgotten or unknown to many.
This festival intends to create more than 'graffiti or street art', leaving considerations about these universes on the sidelines, the painting of large murals, where the theme crafted will always be Cascais, as an exaltation to the numerous and unique features, legends, heritage and personalities of the region by setting up a new point of tourist and cultural interest of the city.
For the 1st EDITION of MURALIZA, the role of curator was shared by Mario Belém and Nomen. The two local artists, the first one more related to street art and the other, one of the first writers in the history of graffiti in Portugal, invited 2 more artists each, related to these urban visual expressions, all of them from Cascais.
The area of performance was the historic center of Cascais Village, where all public was able to follow live all the artistic process and could participate in the guided tours oriented by Lara Seixo Rodrigues.
This first edition was integrated in the commemorations of the 650th Anniversary of the Town Charter, promoted by the City Council of Cascais.
