Wei Jiangfan was born in Chengxian, Shaanxi Province in 1922. Having studied under the guidance of Xu Beihong's, he is good at drawing horses and figures. He has the reputation of "the first person to draw horses in contemporary times". After graduating from the Department of Traditional Chinese Painting of the National Peiping Art College in 1948, he remained in school to teach and engaged in art education for more than 40 years. In 1952, the Institute of Chinese Painting (now the Institute of Fine Arts of the Chinese Academy of Art) was established. He was transferred to Beijing Painting Academy in 1959 and participated in the preparation of the Museum of Chinese History in the same year. He was a professor of the Central Academy of Fine Arts and a professional painter of the Beijing Academy of Fine Arts. National first-class artist. His representative works include "Delivery to the Door", "Shi Chuanxiang", "Pentium of Horses", "First Journey", "No Space to Go", "Fangcao" and so on. His works have participated in many important art exhibitions at home and abroad and won prizes, or have been collected by the Great Hall of the People, Zhongnanhai, Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, National Museum, social organizations and collectors at home and abroad. He published collections include "Wei Jiangfan Painting Horse", "Wei Jiangfan Painting Collection", "China's Modern and Contemporary Masters Painting Collection: Wei Jiangfan".
