This video depicts the artist attempting to swim across a river while tied by a rope around his ankle to a large rock on the shore. Premnath discusses how while pursuing one’s object of desire, the urgency of ones desire is inscribed with a kind of futility. However, this futility does not lead to naught-rather, the tautological re-engagement of the object of desire, despite ones inability to gain it, leads to a kind of exuberance.
