The MUSA has a piece that suggests a cocoon, made in stone from Huichapan, taken from the limestone mines in the state of Hidalgo. It is a monolith that retains the mineral’s color and texture, carved with a chisel and a diamond grinding disc, giving the stone its formal structure. The idea came from a small-scale sculpture the author created from obsidian. From there she decided to make one on a larger scale for the First International Sculpture Symposium organized by the University of Guadalajara in 2002.
