When the solitary figures by Herbert Baglione move, they will only do so if they are in a place that is big enough to hold their solitude. 40 by 3 metres, is the size of the wall hosting these men standing close to each other, but relentlessly divided by a black sea, by a substance capable of dividing them. This fake closeness encloses Baglione’s message, a vision of today that is asking to be changed. A metaphor for contemporary society that is so good at keeping people apart and to make people’s words meaningless to one another. A reflection that is as deep and dark as the sea painted by the artists, an admonishment to the city, to all cities, to transform themselves into a ground for connections rather than a theatre for estrangements.
