Zulu clay pots are made for different functions, namely for drinking beer, brewing beer, storing beer, drinking of sour milk – which is restricted to men of the homestead and those who share the clan name. The intended function informs the technique. They may be or not decorate dependent on the function. The straight necked Uphiso is generally a vessel for pouring beer.
