USS CONSTITUTION Ship Model

Scale model of the US Frigate CONSTITUTION. The model was originally presented to Surgeon Baily Washington who had served aboard the ship. It was sold to FDR in January 1914 by Walter D. Davidge, grandson of Dr. Washington. FDR considered this to be the best model in his collection, and rerigged it himself when he was Governor of New York. As President, he kept it along the wall in his study at the White House until he sent it to the FDR Library a short time before his death. Franklin D. Roosevelt Presidential Library Museum Collection.
