Linda Hodes was trained as a dancer by Martha Graham, and from 1965 onwards she became responsible for the Martha Graham repertoire at the Batsheva Dance Company in Israel. From September 1970 until august 1971, she was a teacher at Nederlands Dans Theater. 'Trip' is Hodes’ second ballet, her first being 'The Act', which was created for Batsheva Dance Company in 1967 and restaged for the Rambert Ballet in 1968. 'Trip' is an abstract ballet employing the Martha Graham technique. It introduces eight dancers and the underlying theme: “three men entering an unknown area.” The score is set by the Israeli composer Tzvi Avni, The costumes have been designed by the choreographer herself.
