It had a 1370 mm width, its stainless steel exit window was 1182 mm wide, 55 mm high and 0.15 mm thick. Since a self-supporting chamber of this size could not fit into the narrow gap of the ISR magnet, the vertical rods prevented collapse of the chamber.
