These are tsubo-sode type shoulder guards, which is formed in a round shape to fit the arm. They are made with scales coated with gold byakudan lacquer. The scales are tightly laced together with purple, red and white strings alternately in seven rows. The top-most plate is bent up like a crown and trimmed with a gold arabesque design.
