The vase has a near spherical body, a conical neck and is covered completely with a dark brown glaze. Another glaze has been poured over the body, producing layers of color that shift between medium brown, copper, and shimmering gold tones.
The vase was made by the ceramicist Mira Liebes. From 1934, Liebes worked as an assistant to the ceramicists Eva Samuel and Paula Ahronson in their pottery in Rishon le-Zion. In 1952 she opened her own workshop in Jerusalem.
