Josef Hoffmann’s vase for the glass manufactory Loetz readopts the Biedermeier decoration technique of Cameo glass. Here, several layers of multi-colored glass are applied and then partly removed again through engraving and etching. Blue milk glass with a green overlay, cut decor on etched ground with rough finish, on top foot-wide, vertical ribbons in green which continue on the body in a triangular pattern. In between one can see isolated green leaf motifs.
