Head of a statue of Venus, a Roman copy of a Greek original of the type known as Aphrodite or Venus of Knidos, which in this case alluded to her significance as an ancestral divinity of the Julian family. Almost life-size, her hair is held by two ribbons and tied in a bun at the nape of the neck. The erosion of the face caused by fragmentation and falling does not prevent us from admiring the beauty and sculptural quality of the piece. Also preserved are the fragments corresponding to the statue’s hips and a lateral support in the form of a hanging cloth and a jar or amphora, which were found at different times in places fairly close to the Forum of the “Colonia”.
