Vice President-elect Kamala Harris speaks at conference

A day after Trump supporters stormed the US Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, leaving five people dead and dozens injured, Harris addressed the double standard in the way Capitol police handled the riot. "The challenge we’re facing in our country is about more than the actions of a few. It’s about how to transform a justice system that doesn’t work equally for all." Harris called on public servants to take on the responsibility of "pursuing justice and ensuring that all Americans are treated equally."
