William Bill??Nye the Science Guy hosted an educational television program that aired from 1993-1998 on PBS Kids and local syndicates. Bill Nye, in each of his shows, aimed to teach a specific science-related topic to a preteen audience. A recipient of 19 Emmys?or superior writing, editing, directing and performance?eachers still use the show as an educational medium in schools. In 1996, Pacific Interactive published a PC game for Windows and Macintosh based on the show. The player takes on the role of the newest member of Nye Labs, and must help the other scientists solve seven science riddles in order to override a sentient and uncooperative computer system called MAAX (Meteoroid and Asteroid Exploder). Once MAAX is appeased by the player?s scientific prowess, it helps the player destroy a large meteoroid called Impending Dum????that is careening toward Earth. The player can explore the 3D virtual representation of Nye Labs, solve riddles, and watch video cutscenes featuring Bill Nye himself while a timer on the screen counts down to Impending Dum???s??crash. Although Pacific Interactive only published one video game related to the show, plenty more Bill Nye educational tools exist that allow teachers, parents, and children to explore the science of our world. As espoused on his website, Nye?s ultimate focus is to make science entertaining and accessible??in order to foster a scientifically literate society.??,",",",","printed paper
