Developed in response to a growing retro gaming community, the RetroN series of consoles allow gamers to play vintage games on a modern system. While the original RetroN only accommodated basic Nintendo games, developers at Hyperkin have continued to expand the console's capabilities. This console, the RetroN 3, was released in 2010 and contains cartridge slots for Nintendo, Super Nintendo, and Sega Genesis games. As of 2014, the RetroN 5 more than doubled this capacity and allowed for games from nine consoles and handhelds to be played: Nintendo, Famicom, Super Nintendo, Super Famicom, Genesis, Mega Drive, Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance.
