The Coleco Gemini Video Game System is a clone of the Atari 2600. Development of the console began in 1982, when Coleco added its Expansion Module #1 to the ColecoVision, allowing it to play Atari 2600 games. Though Atari sued, courts found in favor of Coleco, as different parts were used in constructing the Expansion Module. Coleco then manufactured the Gemini, a stand-alone console capable of playing Atari 2600 games. The main difference between the Gemini and the Atari 2600 is the design of the controllers. The Gemini controllers contain both a joystick and a paddle knob, while the Atari used two separate controllers, one joystick and one set of paddle controllers. For a short time, Columbia House also sold the Gemini through the Columbia House Video Game Club, calling it the Columbia Home Arcade.
