On November 15, 2013, Sony released the PlayStation 4, its fourth home video game console. Marketed as "the world's most powerful console," the PS4 competed with Microsoft's Xbox One and Nintendo's Wii U. In addition to the DualShock 4 Bluetooth controller, players have the option to utilize the PlayStion Camera, a motion-detecting accessory with two lenses and a four-channel microphone for voice commands. Gamers who own the PlayStation Vita can also stream certain games from the PS4 to the handheld, allowing for remote play. Players who choose to connect their console to the Internet can make use of the PlayStation Network, which includes digital downloads of games from the PlayStation Store. A paid subscription to PSN, entitled PlayStation Plus, provides gamers with free download options every month, along with access to online multiplayer modes in many games. Sony recorded over one million preorders for the PS4, as well as the sale of 13.5 million units within the first year.
