Take a look at this sculpture by Kreg Kallenberger, then step to the side and look again. Do you see a rocky ravine appear, and then disappear? The artist uses optical lead crystal which has a remarkable refractive and reflective ability to cast images as if by magic. The painted "landscapes" at the base and sides of the glass wedge appear to flash on and off depending upon the viewer's perspective.
